Good to know
What Luminous does by itself.
- At your first login it makes a #Luminous folder in your inventory, with 22 environments in #Luminous/#Environments. They cost nothing.
- It wears the Luminous LSL Bridge, a small scripted object made from an object in Second Life's Library, on a HUD point. The viewer uses it for things it cannot do alone, such as the radar beyond draw distance and movelock, and it needs a parcel where scripts may run. Turn it off in Preferences > Extras, “Enable LSL-Client Bridge”. If you wear a Firestorm or Lumen bridge, Luminous takes it off; that viewer makes its own again when you go back to it.
- At the very first start it chooses settings that fit your Mac's graphics and display, and tells you what it chose. Your finished pictures are not affected.
- HDR rendering is always on.
- If the live view has been slow for a minute, it offers to optimise your settings, once a session. Nothing changes unless you choose Apply.
- Once a session it asks needfulsl.com whether a newer Luminous is out. Nothing about you is sent; see the privacy policy.

Why only Mac?
Because Mac photographers had the fewest choices.
Windows users are already well served. The Second Life third-party viewer directory has several excellent Windows viewers with strong photo tools.
On the Mac, the choice has been much smaller. Luminous is made to fill that gap: one viewer, built for the Mac and for the snapshot.
